Caribbean Preservation Alliance
Caribbean Preservation Alliance (CPA) is an organization that seeks to preserve the rich culture and history of the Caribbean islands. With 9.08 million people of Caribbean descent living outside of their island of origin, cultural practices, traditions, and oral histories are at risk of being lost. CPA aims to promote Caribbean creatives, support Caribbean organizations/vendors, and build a vibrant international professional Caribbean community.
Values
Creativity: To be creative, is to be boundless. We bring a creative and inspired approach to our program design and community events.
Inclusion: All members of our community are able to positively contribute. We ensure all voices are heard and included in our social and cultural footprint.
Sustainability: With the exponential impact of climate change, it is imperative we operate from a sustainability first mindset. We prioritize initiatives, programming and community organizations that support the health and continuity of our planet.
Mission
Our mission is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the culture and history of the Caribbean islands.
Core Objectives
-
Cultural Preservation
We strive to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean islands, by documenting and sharing the traditional practices, stories, and histories of Caribbean peoples. We aim to ensure that these cultural practices and traditions are passed down to future generations, and that they continue to thrive in a modern context.
-
Community Support
We believe in the power of collaboration and mutual support among Caribbean organizations and vendors. We aim to foster a vibrant international Caribbean community, by connecting individuals and organizations across borders, and promoting the unique and diverse cultures of the Caribbean. We aim to support businesses, non-profits, and community groups, by providing resources, networking opportunities, and other forms of support.
-
Creative Promotion
We believe that the cultural heritage of the Caribbean islands should be celebrated and valued on a global scale. We aim to promote the work of creatives - including artists, writers, musicians, and performers - both within the Caribbean community and beyond. We provide a platform for these individuals to showcase their work, and connect with audiences around the world.
